Once upon a time, Pat Sczebel was coming to Denver to do a weekend with the worship team. The worship leader's wife, seeing that her husband would be busy all weekend, asked all her friends what they were doing and they were all BUSY! So, she felt lonely and depressed. Then she asked her SIL/Best friend jokingly to come visit her. All of the sudden, she was struck with inspiration and checked the fares for flights from Dallas. There was an amazing fare, but alas her sister had no money and so the worship leader's wife asked her husband, "Can I have $198?" To which he said, "Um, no." But then he asked why she wanted it. She told him of her upcoming lonely weekend and her desire to have his darling sister visit. And then he said "Ok baby, you can do that." And then she decided that she had the bestest husband in the whole entire world. The End.
So, there's that part of the story. Yes, I had the honor of having Miss Megan Grace Shaw as the very first overnight, out of town guest in my home. She arrived on Friday night and we stayed up until the wee hours, telling secrets, cause that's what sisters do. Then on Saturday morning...
We made pancakes. Regular, to feel healthy. And chocolate chip, for dessert.
Shortly after that, we found ourselves hungry again and decided that we must go find lunch. So we went to Super Target. Like this. (If you can't see well, we are wearing pajamas and high heels. This is normal behavior when we are together. And if you were wondering, yes, we felt embarrassed and hid in the card department for awhile till we were brave enough to check out.)
But it was worth it, for we had a lovely lunch.
Which Meg forgot to pray for. But never fear, I corrected her.
That afternoon I received a text from my handsome husband saying that he wanted to send us to Pappadeaux for dinner. (I'd been wanting to go, but he's allergic to seafood. Isn't he the sweetest?!)
So, we went and I ordered crab legs. I had seen my brother eat crab legs many times, but never had tried to eat them myself. Meg hadn't either. So, we had a rather interesting and funny time figuring out how to get the meat out. Fortunately we found a method quickly and only squirted me in the face with crab, um, juice (?) once.
We also found a boat. We always find such wonderful things.
On Sunday, Meg hung out with her:
While Ty and I went to the Bronco's game.
On Monday, it rained. It rained quite hard. Meg parked my car across the parking lot the day before, so we had to run through the downpour to get to it. She didn't want to mess up her hair.
She's quite resourceful. I'm so glad I don't know my neighbors. They probably don't want to meet me now.
We drove to Boulder and went to this store (which is now my new favorite!) to spend the giftcard that I got for my birthday from my wonderful Shaw parents! We found many exciting things, among them...
...hats...Meg bought me the one I'm wearing. (Ty loves me in hats, but I always feel ridiculous. I like my new one so much though!)
Terry's Chocolate Orange...we kind of felt bad for Terry, eating her orange and all. But it was just so good. (Sorry Terry!)
And best of all:
A wine rack! (Ty and I had been wanting one for awhile and I found this one that's carved wood and so very beautiful!)
Then we were hungry again, so we made our special food, Posh. (named long ago after the song the grandfather sang in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang)
Alas, it was disgusting, as we used cheap ingredients. (Only the finest make a good Posh)
We then found ourselves watching a scary show on Discovery Channel (they have creepy stuff.) We proceeded to scream, hug one another, and hide our faces in the couch.
Then we watched America's Next Top Model and got the idea to try and pose while falling. So we tried.
And this is why I feel 86 years old. Apparently my body is getting older and slamming it down onto the couch repeatedly makes for sore, sore muscles the next day. (and day after that, and day after that!;-))
Anyhow, that was our weekend. Meg--I was so blessed to have you come and to get to spend two whole days with just you! And, I'm so thankful for what a kind and generous husband I have. He sought to bless me and make my weekend special--and he not only does that once and awhile, but every day! I'm a lucky girl!

No, thank goodness. Meg wore her sunglasses the whole time and informed me that she planned to run away if she saw anyone familiar.
