Well there's not that much to tell. We have the inspection done and the big thing we are waiting on now is the appraisal by our loan people, which is where they decide if the house is really "worthy" of their loan. (That's the Mindy explanation for you...) We're feeling pretty confident about it though and other than that, I think we're pretty much good to go--Lord willing!
God has been so kind to us in this whole house process. (Even though sometimes during it, I didn't think he was being very nice--he knew what he was doing! I am so foolish to doubt his plan!) And he has continued to provide things for our home. We needed a washer and a dryer, as the house didn't come with them. So that was a rather expensive purchase we were planning on making. But then Elmarie texted me a few weeks ago from a garage sale and said that there was a washer and dryer there that seemed to be in good shape. Tyler went the next day and got both. They were only like 5 years old and we got them both for $200! That was certainly a blessing!
So now, Tyler is VERY excited that we have the money to buy the lawnmower he wanted. A John Deere (with a snowplow option--have I mentioned our huge driveway?)
As you can see, John Deere has always been special to Meg and I...I miss that hat, but my nice husband bought me a new one recently. I also have a shirt left from our obsessive days. I'm not sure why us teenage girls decided it was cool, but we did. Maybe it's a Colorado thing.Yes, lawnmowers are very exciting to guys, apparently. Especially when the man is fortunate enough to have purchased a yard worthy of owning a riding lawnmower. I grew up with a big lawn and so agree that it is worth it. Plus, I remember the good old days of arguing over who got to drive the lawnmowers--yes we had 2. It helped prepare me for driving a real car and I thought it was fun. Our favorite thing to do was to turn the blade off and pull people behind in a wagon all around the pasture. And then we'd zoom over the bike jump (aka, mound of dirt) that my brother had built and the people in the wagon would try not to fall out/fall into the mower/die. Then we broke the wagon. Oops. So our next method of entertainment, which I must say I preferred, was pulling people in sleds behind the mower. Bad for the grass and clothes, but great fun. We did this for weeks and smelled like lawnmower/um, the stuff on the ground in the barnyard--you know what it is, all the time. And then we broke all our sleds and all the rope and that was that. But, man, it was fun. (And painful, as I recall rope burns and bruises from that bike jump.) Perhaps someday our kids will do something similar...we shall see.
Anyhow, that's my randomness for today! I'm hoping to take pictures of the house to show everyone soon!
