Can you believe how time flies? It is so strange--and exciting-- to think of how close we are to meeting our little man.
I've been trying to get a bit better at capturing my huge stomach. These are just iPhone pics in the mirror, but they are better than nothing I figure! (and in looking at them, it would seem that I mostly always take them before I make my bed!)
He is a very busy little guy. He always has been, but increasingly so over the past few weeks. I've distracted an entire room of people with my crazily moving stomach. He hates the doppler--squirms around like crazy every time the midwife listens to his heartbeat. He LOVES deep voices (which my mom said I loved too while in the womb) and music. At my great-grandma's funeral a few weeks ago, he was going crazy the whole time, like he was loving it. When I drive places, I always play the radio really loud and he starts kicking away. He has shown some musical preferences---seems to take after his daddy and love rock---the louder the drums and guitar the better. He also likes anything with strong rhythm---music you can dance to. Just like mommy. We have a blast sitting and playing him different things and seeing what he seems to like. Tyler was very disappointed to find that the baby loves the song "3". (Meg, that made me think of you for some reason.) Though I suppose for all we know, he could be kicking in protest to things. We'll see when he gets here!
He also responds to talking. If I talk to him, he'll start kicking. And he seems to know Tyler's voice too. Whenever Tyler wakes me up to say bye in the morning, he says bye to the baby and he wakes right up and starts kicking. And he always starts kicking when Tyler talks to him or is talking to me alot...so cute!
We've been busy getting things ready for his arrival. Right now, we're in the middle of getting his room set up and painted. Sunday is my baby shower, which I am very excited for!
I've been feeling pretty good. I have had quite a bit of back pain throughout my pregnancy and it has gotten more constant as he grows. It is aggravated by sitting, which makes work difficult, but I only have like 2 weeks left of that! My midwife gave me some exercises that help a bit, but most of it is just because I am carrying him frontward so much that it pulls on my back. I've also been getting more Braxton Hicks lately. But, despite some discomfort, I really have had such a nice pregnancy. I don't feel miserable or anything. Though I'm excited to meet the baby, I haven't gotten to the "get this kid out of me now" stage yet. I'm sure it'll come at the very end!
I am now seeing the midwife every 2 weeks. My next appointment is tomorrow. So far, everything is looking good. He is measuring about a week early, but I'm not taking that as hope that he'll get here that early. I'd rather be surprised than disappointed! And happily seems to be staying head-down so far. The only slight issue I've had is that I am anemic, so I get to take iron supplements 4 times a day. Be praying that my body absorbs it. I really don't want to have to start taking more...especially since one kind is a gross tasting liquid. Yuck! I also eat like a teenage boy right now. I'm pretty much hungry all the time. And craving lots of bad things. I try not to eat too much junk, but I definitely am not one of those people who craves a vegetable or something. For example, my bestie, MB craves applesauce and cottage cheese. Hehe, not me! This kid likes cake...and Girl Scout cookies. (It's my child, what can we expect?)
Umm...I think that's all that's new right now. Thanks for all your excitement and prayers! We are looking forward to meeting our little guy in the next 7 weeks or so!
