Jack-Jack,
On this day last year, I found out I was pregnant. We had prayed and prayed (and I cried a bit) that God would give us a baby and all the sudden, there you were. An answer to our prayers. A teeny-tiny poppyseed-sized gift from God. It was one of the happiest moments ever.

Now today, you are four months old. This past year has been a whirlwind. The past four months the fastest moving of all. I look at your uncles and know that before I know it you'll be grown up like them and I feel a sense of panic---I want to write down all the little memories so I don't forget.
Right now, you are sleeping next to me on my bed. Your little butt is sticking up in the air, your ankles crossed in your standard sleeping position that looks painful. You are snoring, which probably means you need your nose suctioned, which you hate with all your might. Looking at you now, I can't believe you ever fit inside of me. You have grown like crazy these past months. At four months you are wearing mostly six month clothes. Some of those are getting too short, due to your long limbs and torso. You have a body just like mine and will spend the rest of your life trying to find clothes that are long enough without being too wide. Good luck!

Other than that, you are the most cheerful, happy little boy I know. You give me smiles all day long. You flirt with people when we go out. You are content to spend periods of time playing alone on the floor or in your bouncy chair or bumbo. This is a major blessing, as you don't like to nap very much. Or when you do, it is often a five minute power nap and then you're ready to party again. But you are happy and sleep pretty well at night, so I don't mind. Speaking of sleeping, you started sleeping in your own room recently. I cried and your dad had to convince me not to go bring you back in with us. But it was time--you are too long for your little crib in our room now.

In the past month you've had your first airplane ride, your first out of state trip, and your first hotel stay. It's been a busy month!
Your daddy and I are convinced you are the smartest kid ever born. I know all parents think that, but I still think you are! You adore music, kicking, waving your arms, and doing this awesome little hip dance movement whenever we play upbeat songs for you. You love when I sing...I think you're probably the only one, but it never fails to bring smiles from you. Your favorite song I sing is "I Love You a Bushel and a Peck." Your favorite song to dance to on my iPhone is "Say Hey (I Love You)" though you've also been known to get down to some Jay-Z, MJ, Justin Timberlake, or even, to your daddy's great dismay, the occasional Lady Gaga song. Your Auntie Jen got a karaoke game for her bday and when we play it you sometimes "sing" along.
You love when we do that horse-sounding noise, vibrating our lips (I have no idea what to call it) and you try so hard to do it too. You take your paci out and once and awhile figure out how to put it back in. You talk up a storm. You love to grab your feet and sometimes fold your toes together like hands. Monkey feet! You are drooling like a fountain and everything you can get your hands on goes into your mouth to chew on. You play with your long fingers all the time, examining them closely. You love to splash in the bathtub. You love to stare at the TV or the computer or our phones. You love to read books.
There's so many amazing little details about you, there's not room to list them all. I can't imagine what's to come.
I am still overwhelmed by God's kindness to us, in giving us you! Happy four months!
I love you!
Mommy
