The celebration...

On Sunday night we went out to The Yardhouse to celebrate Ty's birthday. We were joined by Jeremy & Caitlin, Jordan & Elmarie, and Brent & Chasta (the newly-together couple! I'm so excited for them!)

If there's a Yardhouse near you, I recommend it. Ty and I had been there about a year ago with my parents. That time we went during Happy Hour and just did appetizers and drinks. (And doing that is a great way to enjoy a cheaper date there---the appetizers are really yummy and good-sized so you still get filled up) But this time we had dinner and wow, it was amazing! I had Lobster Garlic Noodles---which not only had lobster, but also shrimp and crab. It was soooo good and gave me the seafood fix I'd been craving! (Hadn't had any since Meg visited) But everything everyone had looked delicious too and they have a wide variety of choices on their menu. And Tyler loves it cause they have like 100 beers on tap! Well, anyhow, that concludes this commercial break.

When we left the restaurant, Jord and Jerm saw a statue. The boys take this great delight in "conquering" statues. So, of course, they had to conquer it. I must say it went better than the last one they conquered---a big indian chief head that was not made of metal, but wood and they discovered that wood is not so strong...hehe...let's just say we're avoiding the city of Grand Junction from now on. This one was metal and I think it was a skier...or maybe a cowboy. Or a skiing cowboy. It was dark. Something Coloradoish.

For Ty's actual birthday we spent the evening at home, since it was a work day. He got a Nintendo Wii with his birthday money and so we had fun trying it out. And he was delighted that thus far he outskills me in all the games. (He hates it when I beat him at video games, in fact, once I beat him, we rarely play that game again!) I planned to make some of his favorite foods for dinner---tequila chicken, cheesy potatoes, and crescent rolls. And of course, brownies for dessert. (Yes, not very healthy or low-carb, but you only have a birthday once a year!) But, we discovered that our grill was out of propane or gas or whatever makes the fire in it, so...we had cheesy potatoes and crescent rolls for dinner. Oh well, it's a memory and we'll eat the chicken later! Then we cuddled on the couch and watched "The Best of Jimmy Fallon" (on SNL) that was part of my present to him. Funny stuff. So, anyhow, it was a fun evening and I think Ty had a pretty good birthday!

Happy Birthday Tyler!!!

I do love the "conquered statue" photo. Definitely a favorite. It is probably good that you cannot see their faces though!
