My birthday last week was full of surprises...
Firstly, we were supposed to go to a concert at Red Rocks the night before my birthday, but then I got sick, Tyler got sick, and I suppose, lucky for us, Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters got sick and the concert was postponed till September. Our plan B (cause we were feeling better) was to go to dinner and a movie and then out afterward to try out my 21st bday privileges. Dinner was good, the movie was ok, until halfway through when I started feeling sick again. My nausea coincided nicely with a rather gruesome hospital scene, so by the end of the movie I was feeling quite, as we Shaw girls say, "Barfums." So I ended up going home...but it was all good. I was just happy to go to bed!
My second surprise was a fun one. Ty and I had taken the day off work for my birthday and had a lovely day together. We were supposed to meet my parents for dinner that evening, but when we got up to where the restaurant is, my dad called and said that my mom was sick and they couldn't come. I didn't mind, though I thought it was wierd that they didn't tell us that before we drove all the way up to the restaurant. Then when I walked in my door, I realized why. My family and friends were all standing in my kitchen! (And I also realized why Tyler had tried to talk me into cleaning the house before we left...and I didn't. Next time I'll listen! Haha.)
This was the first successful surprise I've ever gotten, I think. I'm pretty nosy and so I typically end up finding something out, but this time I had no clue!
It was fun to just hang out with everyone and eat--they had some of my favorite foods and drinks--strawberry margaritas and carrot cake cupcakes!
The evening also included a huge crepe paper fight---started by Casey and Ben--which involved us tearing down all the decorations and throwing paper all over for like 15-20 minutes. It was crazy and funny! (And made my house a mess! But they cleaned up!)
I had a great birthday and was very blessed by everything my husband, family and friends did to make it special! There's no way I'd rather celebrate than be with all of them!

looks like you had a lot of fun. I especially like the paint swatches on the wall. I am thinking you are trying to figure out what to paint?
ooohhh! FUN! What a fabulous 21st birthday!
Actually they are just streamers...Brittany has her own unique style of decorating for birthday parties! ;-)
