Well, its snowy outside and I'm sitting in my warm kitchen with some hot chocolate and John Mayer playing and I thought, "how about some blog?"
The big news in our life (other than the arrival of Annie and all the moments I spend wishing I could run to the airport and catch a flight to go snuggle her) is that we got our Christmas tree on Saturday. We are of the cult of fake tree-ers. Tyler is going against his upbringing, but my family has had one since I was little so I'm just keeping with tradition here. And I must say how wonderful it is to have a pre-lit tree that doesn't need watered or drop needles all over. The only thing to miss is the smell. Plus the fact that in 4 years it'll have paid for itself and we'll still have it. Here's a lazy iPhone picture, but it isn't decorated worth mentioning yet, as we are trying to teach the cat that the tree is not her personal source of amusement.
When we really decorate, I'll take a nicer picture!
Here's some real life for you... I started this post while dinner was cooking and then took a break to eat, meaning to come back to it. Well, then I discovered that grease had been tracked in all over our carpet, so Ty and I just spent the last 2 hours using my parents' carpet cleaner to try to get the stains out. We got the little ones and one larger one is mostly gone, but we're going to have to continue to try to fix the two biggest tomorrow. They've faded, but they are still there. Any tips, friends? I must say, I think I have the cleanest carpet of anyone ever, with as many times as we've gone over it!
Well, back to carpet-saving!

I can't BELIEVE you have a fake tree! The two years I had a fake tree (right out of college, gone for two weeks at Christmas, just wasn't worth putting a real one up), I cried decorating it because it just didn't seem like real Christmas. Brad grew up with a fake tree too and I have converted him - you should let Tyler convert you too!! ;)
Well, you see he is anti-real tree, despite having one his whole life. He always wanted to get a fake one, so this is like his dream come true!
Okay Mindy, I am of the fake tree cult too so I am siding with you. Just by some scented candles to get that "real" tree smell. I haven't always been like this but the ease of having a pre-lit tree is just so nice. As for the cat thing, good luck. No matter what we do every morning I walk downstairs to see several ornaments on the floor and a kitty in the tree. :)
I am appalled!!! (to grow pale, from Latin pallescere, inchoative of pallēre to be pale transitive verb: to overcome with consternation, shock, or dismay)
Though my affections for you remain!

except maybe the grease was the LORD smiting your house for doing such a disgraceful thing. shameful shinnerrrr.. (oh you KNOW where i'm going with this)
No, I'm pretty sure the grease was Tyler, forgetting to take off his dirty work boots.
