Five for...Saturday?

1. Yes, I'm late this week. We ended up having a busy day yesterday--work, closed on our refinance, then went and hung out at my family's house while their power was off. I'm not sure why we didn't all come to our house, which had power, rather than sit in the dark. But we all still had a good time!

2. We thought Tompkins was dead or something early in the week. She disappeared Saturday afternoon and didn't return until Monday at lunch time. I actually, surprisingly, felt quite sad when I thought she was gone. But she returned from her mystery vacation and I'm back to liking her only sometimes...ok, maybe a little more than before.

3. So, as we all know, Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, and Michael Jackson died this week. (Tyler says celebrities always die in threes--he's quite morbid.) They were all pretty much before my time--though I love Michael Jackson songs and learned several of his dances and think he was one of the most brilliant and talented artists ever and also one of the creepiest and most disturbing. It's all rather sad. It's always sobering to see these rich and famous people die and then wonder where they are now and know that none of what they had on earth matters. I guess it's a good reminder, making me realize how important it is to live for the eternal--and also how blessed I am to HAVE hope for the future. My main memories of them are: slapping Megan one night when she looked like Michael in the dark (it freaked me out), driving by Farrah's old house in Carlsbad every time I visited Aunt Sharon, and well, I think Ed  hosted some "be the next kid star" show for awhile and I always dreamed of being a child star and loved shows like that, so that'll have to work. Also, I think people are seriously playing "Thriller" on the radio too much and I totally called that MJ's songs would take over all the iTunes top 10's.

4. On Thursday, I hung out at the Longtine's, making wedding favors, till 11pm. It was fun! I also got to go tanning (a term I use very loosely when it comes to what actually happens to me) for the first time this summer. MB and I went to the pool on Monday and man, I miss my apartment pool!

5. I am spending today getting ready for MB's first bridal shower! And torturing Tyler by baking lots of desserts that he isn't allowed to eat. This evening is her church shower and it is going to be fun---I hope at least, since I'm putting it together! Anne Marie and I have some fun stuff planned. I'll tell more about it later!

Have a great weekend!
