Off we went in--Ty and Casey in the Audi and Jen and I in the Malibu. (My faithful old car, which is now hers. It did great--I drove home and went up the pass at 40! I've always loved that car!)
I love the drive up there---it is so pretty, especially when you get into the Grand Lake/Granby area where there are lakes all over. We got to the campground and managed to grab the last two available sites. The rest of the weekend was spent mainly hanging out, eating, napping. It was great! Here's a few more pictures:
Being ourselves in the woods.
Hanging out around the fire. (those blurry people are Jord and El, and Brent--who joined us for an evening.)
Fishing. Jen and Casey did alot, Ty and Jord did for about 5 minutes.
Catching a big one?
Getting ice cream in Grand Lake.
Cuddle time in J&E's tent during a rainstorm. (The kid you don't recognize is my cousin, Dalton. My uncle and cousin came up on Saturday.)
And our last little adventure was that our tent (which was my parents' very old tent that had been through 10 years of teen campouts) had a door that wouldn't zip and some holes in the roof, which was fine until it poured rain. Jen and Casey's side turned into a puddle. Luckily Ty and I's side was fine, so Jen just slept with us that night and Casey had been sleeping outside anyhow! The tent now rests in peace in the campground dumpster.
Despite all our minor problems, God worked through it all and we all really had a great time! I wish we had time this summer to go again--it is so relaxing to be away and without the distractions of work and home. Though I must say, coming home is always one of my favorite parts of going on a trip!
