Another recipe and stuff...

Tonight I made this:

Chicken Broccoli Supreme

And it was deemed quite good. And is easy to do GF--I used GF crackers on top. Expensive, but delicious. AND there's no questionable cream of anything soup in it. You make a sauce from scratch.

I was hoping that hiding veggies in a cheesy sauce would trick my recently vegetable-hating son (he seriously used to happily eat any and all veggies, alas, no more) to eat some. But no. He gobbled it down saying "ummy! ummy!" while carefully avoiding all the broccoli. When he ran out of non-broccoli food he tried one bite, made a dreadful face and spit it back out. Oh well, we try. I guess if I get a picky eater, I'm reaping my own stubbornness. I have vivid memories of dramatically gagging and refusing to eat oatmeal as a child. I still can't love oatmeal.

I made a double batch and froze one. I've officially entered nesting, which for me, causes a mad desire to hoard food and money and diapers as though the world as we know it was about to end. (Well, it kinda IS. Our little world, at least, will never be the same--in the best way.) My other impulse, oddly, is to rid us of all unnecessary stuff. When I was pregnant with Jack I got rid of six trashbags full of stuff. And I'm really not much of a stuff-keeper to begin with. I don't think it will be so drastic this time, seeing as there's not much left from last year's nesting. Most of the stuff left belongs to my husband and if I get rid of it then it might cause strife.

Plus I'm supposed to be resting, so I've mainly been making lists. Lots of lists. It's mental nesting since I am too tired and contraction-y to do much physical anything. It's rather sad and ironic to be tired and required to rest, yet not be able to sleep much anymore. Hence the midnight blog post. I remember this from Jack, I think it must be God's way of preparing me for the sleepless early-infant stage. At least it gives me lots of time to make lists. I may not accomplish much, but I'm sure organized about it!

Well, back to my lists and pillow-arranging trying to find a comfy way to sleep. I currently use five and often steal from Tyler after he's asleep. Maybe it's a different sort of nesting too.
