My first baby...

Jack has turned into a little boy, my little baby is gone. I'm sure once little brother gets here, the change will even seem more dramatic. As much as I miss his baby-ness--and part of me always will--I love the little man he has become. He is so much fun!

Watching him explore and discover the world is so amazing. He learns so quickly--sometimes even surprising us with things we don't remember teaching him like knocking on doors or roaring like a dinosaur. Every day is something new and wonderful. Being able to view life once again through the eyes of a child is such a gift!

There's so many moments I try to remember. They happen so often and fast that I don't have time to write them all down. I know these little years will fly by and I don't want to forget. Things like the silly faces he makes at me from across the table during meals, the way he lays his head on my shoulder before nap and bedtime and rubs my back while I rub his, the sound of his adorable voice saying things like "din-nur" and "bee" and even "nah-no, nooo, nah-no!"

He has the cutest little waddle-y walk that somehow reminds me of his Daddy. Even though Ty doesn't waddle. I see so much of his Daddy in him. From the way I dress him like Tyler in little skate shoes and hoodies, to the way he laughs. He observes all the details around him very closely and carefully and will often sit quietly for a good 20 minutes figuring out how to do something. His sense of humor is all boy. And he adores music. The other day during breakfast I was playing worship music and as the guitar came in at the beginning of the song, Jack looked at me and said "Tar!" and then the drums started up and he said "Dum!" I was surprised he could identify them like that! That doesn't come from Mommy!

He loves cars and trucks and motorcycles. When a loud one passes our house he always comes up and tells me "Vrmmm! Vrmmm!" Whenever we go to my parents' house he has to walk around out front and identify everyone's cars. And he knows who they all belong to. We spend many hours playing cars. He also loves balls and "duns"---who knew that would start so soon? Everything from my hair dryer to the garden hose attachment to a stick are guns. "Boom, boom!" And he loves, loves to read. We sit and read book after book. Especially ones about trucks or animals. He loves to go to my parents and play with the dogs, chase the cat and stand at the fence yelling "bok, bok", "duck" and "baaaa" at the chickens, ducks and goats.

He's my little best friend and I love spending every day with him. Part of me is a little sad to know our days just the two of us are coming to an end, but I know I'll have even more fun with my TWO boys! Me and my houseful of men!
