I did it again...

Growing up, my wise mother always told me "never say never." I should listen to her. Especially it seems, when it comes to fashion. I have been arguing with her for going on a year about high waists coming back into style. Then when they appeared in magazines, and she pointed them out to me, I vowed "well, I don't care if they're stylish, I'm never wearing high-waisted anything again." (You must admit...when you think of high waists, it takes you back to uglier days---doesn't it? Well, it does for me.) I should have learned my lesson when I said something similar about leggings...and now own several pairs. (Though I don't wear candy cane-striped ones with a Dalmatian sweatshirt like I did at age 8, thank goodness.) Well, to get to the point, she has triumphed again. On Wednesday, with the input of my trusted fashion advisers, I bought this:It is a skirt. With a high waist. It comes above my belly button. And it's mine...and I like it. Plus it's a pencil skirt and I love them so much because they help people like me who are, shall we say, lacking in "back" look like we actually have something to sit on. And the high waist helps this illusion. So yes, my mother wins again. I must say however, that I'm still not quite sure about pants like that...a skirt is different. But I believe I've learned my lesson now, so I won't say never, cause I guess you never can know for sure... Moral of the story: listen to your Mother. (even if she did let you wear a dalmatian sweatshirt and candy cane striped leggings.)

I saw a gorgeous pair of high waisted pants not too long ago. They would look great on someone with really long thin legs, hint hint!
Like the skirt too, it looks great. Are you wearing it on Sunday?

haha - that's awesome. i totally own leggings too, after saying how i totally didn't like them.

and i agree with you - skirts are different than pants. high waisted skirts are reminiscent of the 1940s, which is classy. high waisted pants look like everything wrong from 1985.
